SYMPOSIUM (3-5 pm) and OPENING (6-8 pm) of 9.EQT-Tampere on (Fri) 16 January 2026

International quilt art will be on display in Finland in 2026, when the 9th European Quilt Triennale, a triennial exhibition of contemporary textile art, comes to Tampere for the first time. The exhibition draws from a large Europe-wide competition, initiated by Dr. Kristine Scherer of the Max Berk Textile Collection in Heidelberg, brings a selection of top-level European quilt artworks to the Finlayson area.

9.EQT (9th European Quilt Triennale)
consists of contemporary modern textile and patchwork artworks made in Europe, selected by an international jury. Nanna was for a second time part of the EQT-committee. They selected 45 works for the exhibition, which began in Heidelberg in 2025 and also includes two Finnish works: Marita Lappalainen's "A House" and "Touch" by Leena Illukka.
The 9th EQT toured in Germany and Switzerland during 2025.

Free admission to the exhibition.

SYMPOSIUM AND OPENING CEREMONY January 16, 2026
LOCATION: Terde (next to Vooninki), Finlayson area, Väinö Linnan aukio 13, Tampere.
Admission fee €20, payable in cash upon arrival at the symposium.

The symposium has capacity for 80 participants, and places will be filled in order of registration: first come, first served.

3–5 pm Symposium at Terde (Väinö Linnan aukio 13, Tampere)
First part (approx. 20 min) in English:

BREAK
in Finnish (approx. 45 min)
• Minna Huotilainen, brain researcher, University of Helsinki: Human intelligence and well-being reside in the brain and hands.
• Dr. Vuokko Isaksson: A new wave of patchwork in Europe

6-8 pm Opening Ceremony at Vooninki (Väinö Linnan aukio 13, Tampere).

9th EQT exhibition catalogues will be available for purchase at the symposium and opening ceremony for €20 in cash.

PLEASE NOTE: The Terde space is divided into two floors. Unfortunately, the premises are not wheelchair accessible: the lower floor of the Terde space, where the symposium will be held, cannot be accessed by wheelchair or walker.

During the exhibition opening hours a varied program is organized with the collaborations partners, like workshops, talks, and guided tours in three different languages (FI, EN, GER).
