This Studio-Talk will be carried out in English (Nanna kann bei Bedarf Maarikas Berichte und Erzählungen auf Deutsch erläutern)

Maarika Maury is a new Finland-acquaintance of Nanna's. They met during Nanna's participation - as fiber-artist and speaker - at "Forssa Textile Week" in Finland in August 2024. The highly recommendable, annually organized, multi-layered cultural event in Forssa, that fully caters to the past and present makers and life-of-textiles, included Maarika's historical villa as a "textile venue". A large attic-room surrounded by raw-planks, was staged as an exhibition space. Not only the villa left traces in Nanna's memory, but also Maarika's stories of her summer-visits at her aunt's place, who long ago lived in the beautiful wooden house.

18.04.-18.05.2025 Maarika's paintings are shown in Kronberg Castle, constructed in 1220 (!), in the pictoresque town of Kronberg im Taunus (Metropolitan Frankfurt) in the state Hessen in Germany. In the announcement is stated:

"The Marked by Blood exhibition invites the viewer to reflect on their roots and heritage, to become fascinated with the layers of the mind and memory like an archeologist. The works tell a story of how the past influences the present and shapes who we are.

The renowned Finnish visiual artist Maarika Maury will be showing her art at Burg Kronberg. Maury has had numerous exhibitions both in Finland and internationally, and is known for bis abstract, often colorful paintings with mystical figures seen in the background. Her ancestral ties to Kronberg Castle weave a deep and personal connection to this exhibition."

At this studio-talk visitors will get to see some of Maarika's smaller paintings in Stuttgart. On powerpoint-slides Maarika will give an overview of her paintings, possibly some of which can be seen at Kronberg Castle. Maarika and Nanna are looking forward to a amaible evening with friends in the cozy studio-setting at _nannatextiles.

On (Thu) 08 May, in the early afternoon, some DFG-members plan to visit the exhibition near Frankfurt. Nanna is neither a tour-guide, nor is she in any way organizing the visit. During tonight's artist-talk Maarika will describe the castle-venue and give information on the surroundings, if you are thinking of joining the Thursday-visit as well.

This event is additionally promoted through the channels of the German-Finnish Association (DFG Deustch-Finnische Gesellschaft e.V.). Online-registration is mandatory. Unfortunately no PHONE-CALL, FAX or EMAIL sign-ups can be processed/accepted. The fee of 10 EUR includes a glass of wine/ bottle of beer/ a softdrink and small snacks.
